Graduation 2014

Staff & learners

Two years after opening, we have recently waved goodbye to our original cohort of learners in our very first Graduation Ceremony.

This summer, six learners have completed their bespoke programmes and, in order to recognise the amazing progress they have made, the learners and their families/carers were invited to an evening of celebration at the beautiful Marriott Breadsall Priory Hotel.

Amongst the guests were staff and Governors from T2 and St Andrew’s School and partner organisations including Derby Advocacy and Derby City Council’s Adult Social Care team.

The six graduating learners travelled to the event in style, arriving in a Baby Bentley limousine, and were welcomed by the rest of the guests who showered them in bubbles as they entered the venue on the red carpet.

The event consisted of inspirational presentations and speeches from Janine Cherrington, T2’s Head of Service and Phil Harrison, Executive Headteacher of St Andrew’s Day School, Residential Provision and T2, before the learners watched a video of their course highlights and received their certificates.  Phil showed photographs of some younger students at St Andrew’s School, reminding the graduating learners that their outcomes and achievements would now inspire another generation of young people in our city to keep raising the bar in relation to what is possible for young learning disabled adults.

At the end of the ceremony Janine gave each guest a single jigsaw piece to thank everyone for their individual contribution to the “bigger picture”.

The T2 team are immensely proud of all the learners’ achievements and wish them lots of luck and happiness as they continue to grow and develop into mature young adults, achieving genuine life outcomes and drawing upon their qualities and assets to make meaningful contributions to their local community.
