Thrive Approach and Resilience Film
An introduction to the ACEs study and how the Thrive Approach helps every child to access learning.
An opportunity to watch the film
‘Resilience -THE BIOLOGY OF STRESS AND THE SCIENCE OF HOPE’
and to be introduced to the Thrive Approach.
The session is designed for Heads/SENCos and Strategic Leads to learn more about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the Thrive Approach. It will start with the one-hour documentary film exploring how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can shape a child’s physical and mental health. You will discover how toxic stress is related to ACE, how trauma-informed policies and practices have been developed in the USA and how cutting edge research is exploring the impact.
Following this, you will be introduced to the theory and concepts of Thrive and how it can be used to support children and young people in their settings. The Thrive Approach is informed by a deep understanding of, and sensitivity to, childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences but the Approach remains focused on where children and young people are now and moving them towards full emotional health and wellbeing.
The session will also outline the essential elements of the Thrive Approach, which comprises:
~ training: Introductory staff training. SLT training and Licensed Practitioner training
~ use of Thrive-Online – the underpinning assessment, action planning and progress monitoring tool that supports staff to address interruptive behaviours, overcome barriers, and develop wellbeing and learning potential
~ continuing professional development
~ the option to train your own trainers to build in-house capacity.
This session is FREE and will be led by a Thrive Relationship Manager.
