Transition2 is ‘moving on’
In Spring 2025, Transition2 will be leaving the Whitaker Centre, our home for the last 14 years, and making the move to Friar Gate Studios, a city centre location at the heart of Derby’s Student Quarter.
Existing learning programmes will remain in place for our current cohort for the remainder of the 2024/25 academic year.
With this exciting development, from September 2025, we will be extending our current offer to include the following learning programmes and services:
Transition2: The World of Work
A personalised, full-time (three day a week) learning programme for young people in Derby and Derbyshire, aged 18-25 with an EHCP, interested in developing transferrable work-related skills to gain sustainable employment opportunities.

Transition2: Post-16 SEND Hub
There are also plans for Transition2 to offer an Active Leisure Membership Service, providing activities and events to encourage healthy lifestyles, well-being and social confidence to young people with SEND. As well as, developing an Information, Advice and Guidance Hub, which will aim to be a ‘one stop shop’ for signposting, sharing knowledge, experiences and services to those Preparing for Adulthood and their circles of support.
More information on these services will be available in Summer 2025.
