Supported Internship Case Study – Charley’s route to work

Choosing Transition2
“I came to Transition2 because I wanted to get more work experience and get a job.”
Building Confidence & Independence
“I also got to see my friends. I found travelling on buses easier. I message my friend about when we need to leave, and I meet him at the bus stop. I go to the gym with him. We try to take it nice and slow so we don’t pull a muscle. Staff used to help but we don’t mind going on our own now.”
Work Experience and Skills Development
“In my first year I worked in the warehouse at CosyDirect, volunteered at Famous Trains and practised woodwork at the Glow & Grow Workshop at Elvaston.”
“At CosyDirect, I used to get really tired at work but it’s not as bad now. I’ve got more stamina. I’ve learned about quality control and health and safety. I need to wear hi-vis so the fork-lift trucks see me.”
Starting My Supported Internship
“In my second year I started a Supported Internship at Cosy Direct because I think it’s the right place for me and I’d like to get a paid job there.”
“Amie (my Job Coach) helps me to know how to do my job and get used to things so I can do them on my own.”
How I’ve Changed?
“I’m more independent, more mature and more calm”
