Transition2 and Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Psychiatry Teaching Unit have built an impactful partnership that’s transforming futures on both sides. Medical students gain real-world insights into the lives of young adults with learning disabilities and Autism – developing deeper empathy, confidence, and communication skills.
For Transition2 learners, the experience builds self-esteem, sharpens communication, and fosters a better understanding of health and wellbeing. Some even become paid Expert Patients, shaping future doctors through lived experience
