World of Work
A personalised, full-time learning programme for young people aged 18–24 with SEND, designed to prepare them for job opportunities and support their journey towards greater independence within their local community. Programmes are three days a week and cover the four areas of the Preparing for Adulthood themes – Employment, Independent Living, Community Inclusion, and Health.

What Is It?
A personalised, full-time (three days a week) learning programme incorporating:
- External Work Placements based on the aspirations and skills of learners
- Catering training within our fully operational café, Glow & Grow
- Enterprise opportunities within Horticulture, Joinery and Retail
- Support to attain sustainable part-time volunteering opportunities
- Enriched Independent Travel Training, including support to access local amenities, work and opportunities to socialise with friends
- Practical Literacy and Numeracy skill development
- Self-Management and Pastoral support, promoting well-being, confidence and independence
Who's it For?
- Young people in Derby / Derbyshire aged 18years – 24years with an Education, Health and Care Plan
- Young people interested in developing transferrable job-related skills to gain meaningful, sustainable work opportunities
- Learners interested in developing their participation and independence within their local community

- Work placements within a variety of employment settings such as warehousing, hospitality and catering, admin, heritage/culture and more
- Job Coaching and Mentoring, including work-related training and performance reviews
- Support to attain sustainable part-time / full-time paid employment opportunities
- Enriched Independent Travel Training, including support to access local amenities, work and opportunities to socialise with friends
- Workplace performance reviews with Job Coaches and mentors
