Graduation 2016
On Friday 15th July 2016, at the end of our fourth academic year, we celebrated our third graduation with a ceremony at the wonderful Silk Mill in Derby.
Learners were joined by family, friends and colleagues from Transition 2, and organisations who have been supporting their transition. Everyone was delighted to share in the learners’ celebrations.
As well as celebrating the learners’ fantastic achievements, the event was an opportunity to thank all those who have been involved, including staff at Transition 2, and the learners’ circles of support.
A special thank you was given to Heather Flockton, retiring Head Teacher of St Andrew’s School and Alistair Crawford, Assistant Head Teacher of St Andrew’s School, who is moving to Bennerley Fields School as their new Deputy Head. Both Heather and Alistair have provided Transition 2 with tremendous support over the years and will be greatly missed by us all.
Before the ceremony began, the guests eagerly awaited the arrival of the graduating learners. When the limousine pulled up everyone was ready to shower them in bubbles and congratulations!
After a welcome speech by Head of Service Janine Cherrington, continuing learners were presented with certificates to recognise the progress they’ve been making throughout the last year.
The graduating learners were also presented with certificates of achievement, with Teaching and Learning Coordinator Alex Newman sharing news of their journeys and transition outcomes.
After the ceremony, everyone celebrated with a glass of bubbly and piece of cake, before saying goodbye to our graduates and wishing them well for their exciting futures!
Huge congratulations to all our learners and their very proud families!
