Cross Country Championships
Four Transition2 learners competed in the Leicestershire and Rutland Disability Cross Country Championships last week.
Runners had the opportunity to take on an undulating 2km or 3km course around the grounds of the beautiful Maplewell Hall School in Woodhouse Eaves. We were invited as guests due to our involvement with the Leicestershire Disability Athletics Development Group, having competed at several other sports events with the partnership last year.
Runners Cora, Jaspal, Oliver and Daima have been working hard in recent weeks to improve their fitness levels in preparation for the cross country run. Weekly Running Club sessions have focused on warm ups, pace and sprint finishing, all of which were on full show during the event.
Our runners all showed tremendous resilience to complete the very challenging course.
All runners received participation certificates and Cora achieved a second place medal for finishing runner up in her category.
We’re looking forward to more competitive running/sports events throughout the year, with the next Disability Athletics Development Group event being held at Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium in May.
